CPF Debate on Europe

Tonight EECA was joined by Marta Andreasen MEP for a discussion on Europe. It was interesting evening with Marta giving us an insight into the fraud and corruption that occurs in Brussels.

Her views on UKIP’s aims in the UK as well as in Europe were also thought-provoking, with her saying that the upper echelons of the party had no real ambition to be in Government but to remain as a pressure group against the Tories to act decisively on Europe.

EECA chairman, Jose Fiuza, started the evening with a vote. The three options given were to stay in the EU, leave without question or to stick with Conservative Party policy and renegotiate powers before holding a referendum. An overwhelming majority voted in favour of the latter but by the end of the evening when the vote was repeated, an extra two voted in favour of leaving. No one in either vote opted for staying in the EU.

MVEECF would like to thank EECA for hosting the event and thank Marta for an informative and interesting discussion.
